May 2026 — heat and vrata season
May is peak summer for much of Karnataka. Festival energy is quieter than March–April but the Panchanga stays active with Hunnime, Amavasya, Apara Ekadashi, Narasimha Jayanthi, and Nirjala Ekadashi. Hydration and sensible fasting matter more this month than almost any other.
Narasimha Jayanthi (14 May)
Observances honour Vishnu’s Narasimha form. Temple programmes vary; check local timings. Pair cultural attendance with heat safety for elders and children.
Nirjala Ekadashi (27 May)
